GWA HONORS MICHAEL LUICK-THRAMS

Washington/Vienna/Berlin: The German World Alliance (GWA), an international association of men and women of German descent, endorses the work of Mr. Michael Luick-Thrams and his inspiring "Traces" exhibition, which reflect the traditional American values of justice and compassion. GWA honors his achievement in drawing public attention to the humiliations and suffering endured by some 11,000 loyal German-Americans 1941-47, who were unjustly deprived of their liberty and interned during the second world war, whose privacy and family-life were wrongly interfered with and whose businesses were ruined without any compensation.

Mr. Luick-Thrams, and his Buseum traveling museum have informed thousands of persons throughout the American mid-west about the Internment, at great personal expense and sacrifice. His work comes at a time when German-Americans are endeavouring to have a Committee of the US-Congress investigate the Internment and report back to the full Congress on its findings.

Persons like Mr. Luick-Thrams, who put their love of truth and justice above personal wealth or comfort, are true heroes. The GWA is proud to contribute in a small way with his continued work.

GWA is the largest human and civil rights organization for Germans, with over one million members in Argentina, Austria, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
